The release of the Green, Blue, and No-drop water reports today highlights the exceptional performance of the Western Cape, a province governed by the DA. Once again, the Western Cape outperforms other provinces in several key areas related to water management.

• One notable achievement is the Western Cape’s status as the province with the lowest NRW (Non-Revenue Water) in South Africa. NRW refers to water lost between the point of production and the point of consumption. The Western Cape’s success in minimising such losses demonstrates its commitment to efficient water usage.

• Furthermore, the Western Cape boasts the lowest l/c/d (liters per capita per day) in South Africa, indicating that the province has the lowest water consumption levels. This achievement reflects the remarkable water awareness among its residents. The DA congratulates all residents in the Western Cape who have contributed to this accomplishment.

• Another significant feat is the Western Cape’s distinction as the province with the lowest ILI (Infrastructure Leakage Index) in South Africa. This index measures the amount of water lost due to leaks in the water distribution system. The Western Cape’s minimal water loss through leaks reinforces its effective infrastructure management across the province.

• Moreover, the Western Cape stands as a frontrunner in terms of households being connected to a reliable water source. This accomplishment highlights the province’s dedication to ensuring that its residents have access to a consistent and dependable water supply.

MPP Isaac Sileku said: “These achievements serve as a testament to the clean and good governance provided by the DA. Residents of a DA-run province experience better services, as corroborated by the recently released Auditor General report, which proclaimed the Western Cape to have the best-run municipalities in the entire country.

It is evident that clean government translates into better services for the people, and the Western Cape’s water management successes exemplify this principle.”
