Today marks a proud moment for the DA Western Cape as six municipalities in this Province scooped top national awards, once again proving that excellence is rooted in DA governance.
At the inaugural SAPOA | Ratings Afrika Municipal Performance Awards, four DA municipalities in the Western Cape earned well-deserved recognition in the Best-Performing Municipalities category:
- First place: Saldanha Bay and Swartland (jointly)
- Second place: Swellendam
- Third place: Hessequa
These national awards celebrate municipalities that demonstrate outstanding financial management, service delivery, and infrastructure investment which sets a benchmark for distinction in local government.
On the same evening, the DA-led Breede Valley Municipality joined the festivity after receiving three awards for good governance, while West Coast District Municipality was presented with the best-run Municipality prize, largely due to accomplishing 14 consecutive clean audits and 100% expenditure on capital projects.
The DA Western Cape also tips our hat to the DA Eastern Cape, where DA-governed Kouga emerged as the top performer in that Province and DA Gauteng where Midvaal came out as top performer.
These collective accolades reaffirm what President Ramaphosa accredited to DA-governed municipalities: where we govern, we govern well, as reflected in these outstanding awards.
