Today marks an important step forward for George Municipality and for every resident who calls George home.
After constructive engagements with our coalition partners, the FF Plus and ACDP, we have now concluded a Multi-Party Coalition Agreement and Addendum for George. See photos here and here.
In coalition positions:
- FF Plus will hold the Deputy Mayor, MAYCO Planning, and MPAC Chair; and
- ACDP will hold MAYCO Corporate Services
After consultation with all DA structures and our George Caucus Leader, we agreed on a balanced leadership configuration:
- Browen Johnson will be elevated from Deputy Mayor to Executive Mayor; and
- Jacqui Von Brandis will transition to Chief Whip of Council, ensuring strong oversight and continuity
This agreement applies only to this municipality and commits us to a stable, transparent, values-driven government for the remainder of the 2021–2026 term.
The DA is optimistic about the future of George and we will uphold our steadfast commitment to delivering services and good governance to residents.
