The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure has revealed that the construction of Saldanha Primary School is progressing exceptionally well and is notably ahead of the originally planned schedule. The completion date for the project is the end of July 2023. The Western Cape Standing Committee on Infrastructure will, thus, plan a visit to the construction site in the upcoming weeks.
The Western Cape Government’s decision to allocate R88 million for the construction of the project demonstrates a remarkable commitment to investing in the future of the Saldanha region. By allocating these funds, the WCG is not only creating an environment that fosters academic excellence but also contributing to job creation and improved quality of life for the community. The school is going to accommodate an estimated 1 860 learners.
MPP Matlhodi Maseko says, “This significant project highlights the vital role of infrastructure development in fostering positive change and progress within our community. The collaborative efforts between the Western Cape Departments of Education and Infrastructure have been instrumental in addressing the infrastructure needs of our growing communities, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for all.
This construction project represents more than just the establishment of an educational institution; it symbolises a commitment to investing in our province’s infrastructure. As we develop and improve our built environment, we create opportunities for economic growth, social cohesion, and overall improvement in the quality of life for our citizens.
The Standing Committee’s oversight visit will serve to evaluate the ongoing progress of the project, ensuring that the R88 million investment is being utilised efficiently and that the construction adheres to the required quality standards and completion timeline.”
