The DA in the Western Cape celebrates with the Matric Class of 2024 for their outstanding achievement of passing their final school year. The late nights and early mornings have paid off.

To the pupils who were unsuccessful, we understand the disappointment. However, the comeback is greater than the setback. Take a moment to breathe then hit the books again to chase your victory.

The DA is pleased that the province’s matric pass rate has risen by 5.1% to 86.6%, which, in fact, is the highest pass rate ever achieved in the province. An exceptional accomplishment the province can be proud of. Thank you to the teachers, parents and the school community who contributed to the triumph of our pupils.

Now, we look toward the 2025 school year, which kicks off tomorrow.

With the high cost of living affecting the pockets of many, the DA Western Cape has embarked on the Oppit Back2School campaign that will equip pupils with essential stationery items that will not only alleviate the financial burdens of parents but inspire pupils to reach their success with the tools they require.

Ward councillors have been out on the streets, handing over the crucial stationery packs to pupils and parents. See photos here, here and here.

The DA stands proud of this campaign and it reiterates our commitment to not only say we care but exhibit our care.

We wish the entire schooling community a prosperous and successful 2025 year.
