The DA applauds the Western Cape Government’s ongoing commitment to drive meaningful change and deliver dignity for all communities.
Just yesterday, Tertuis Simmers, Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure, conducted a site visit to the Boekenhoutskloof informal settlements upgrade project in Bonnievale.
Upgrades of the R65 million project, in partnership with the Langeberg Municipality and completed in March 2025, included:
- 577 serviced sites delivered;
- 568 toilets and wash troughs;
- External bulk link services completed; and
- Infrastructure includes water, sanitation, electricity & waste management
This project went far beyond just delivering housing, but it is about job opportunities too.
During the 20-month project, 42 local jobs were created, of which 22 opportunities went to young people.
