The DA caucus in Beaufort West will elect a new Speaker at a special Council meeting tomorrow (Wednesday 20 August) following the termination of the membership of the former Speaker for gross misconduct.
The DA now has a full complement of councillors, with a majority in the Council (seven out of 13).
The DA caucus in Beaufort West enjoys the full support of our party’s national, provincial and regional leadership in this approach.
We will use our DA majority to bring back stability and good governance to Beaufort West, for the benefit of all people in the municipality.
Once a new DA speaker is elected, the next Council meeting will be convened, where we will move a motion of no-confidence to remove the ANC Mayor from office.
The DA administration will make service delivery to residents our sole focus.
The DA has a strong team in place to lead the town till the next local government election in 2026/7.
We will not tolerate individuals pursuing their personal agendas at the cost of the residents of our town – residents must always be our first priority.
