The DA in Langeberg strongly condemns Patriotic Alliance (PA) mayoral candidate for Langeberg, Bennie van Rooi, over allegations that he is using his position as President of the Boland Rugby Union for political purposes ahead of the Local Government Elections.
Video evidence shows Mr van Rooi addressing a group that includes rugby club officials, while referring to his position as President.
Sport should bring communities together, not become a tool for politicking. Leaders in sport are expected to protect the integrity of the organisations they lead.
Langeberg residents deserve leaders who put their interests first, not politicians who use positions of influence to gain political advantage.
On 4 November, voters have a choice between integrity and deceit. The DA and our Mayoral Candidate, Pauline Hess, will continue working to put residents first and build a better Langeberg for all.
