The Democratic Alliance (DA) proudly commends the Western Cape Department of Infrastructure for its remarkable achievement in completing the Maitland housing project, valued at almost R100 million, within record time of 16 months.

Situated within a mere 10 km from the Cape Town Central Business District and intricately linked to the Metro’s efficient transport network, this development promises to unlock vast economic prospects for local job seekers.

The beneficiary allocations are as follows:

  • 121 of the 204 units will be allocated to the primary beneficiaries earning between R 1 850 and R 6 700 per month.
  • 83 units are for the secondary target market of people earning between R 6 701 and R22 000 per month.

The project is part of a bigger precinct development called Maitland Metro which will deliver more than 1 200 new units over the next 8 years.

To lessen the burden of the ANC created Loadshedding crisis, the Western Cape Department of Infrastructure has also fitted the Maitland Mews building with solar PV panels, which will also allow beneficiaries to spend less of their money on electricity.

The DA remains steadfast in its commitment to advocate for accelerated housing initiatives in the Western Cape. With a resolute focus on pressing the Western Cape Government, we strive to ensure that housing projects are scaled up to meet the pressing needs of our communities.
