The release of the Auditor Generals audit outcomes report once again highlights the unparalleled clean, reliable and efficient governance brought by the DA-run municipalities in South Africa.

The report’s latest findings reveal that the Western Cape stands out significantly from the rest of South Africa, with a remarkable 21 out of the mere 38 clean unqualified audits achieved in the entire country.

The Western Cape Municipalities not only continue to deliver clean governance to the province’s residents but have also made substantial progress in reducing the number of municipalities receiving a disclaimed audit opinion with findings. As of now, there remains only one municipality in the entire Western Cape that received such an audit opinion.

However, despite the overall success in clean governance, there are still a few municipalities in the Western Cape that are not governed by the DA and continue to disappoint in their audit outcomes. Specifically, Beaufort West, Kannaland, and Laingsburg municipalities persist as problematic areas.

Recognizing the need for improvement, the DA remains committed to fighting for better governance in these municipalities, striving to ensure that all residents receive the high standard of governance they deserve.

MPP Isaac Sileku said: “Rectifying South Africa’s issues begins at the local government level, and through the continuous provision of clean and reliable governance in the Western Cape, we will remain a shining example for the rest of the country.”
