Attention broadcasters: Please kind English soundbite attached.

With the Class of 2022 collecting their NSC results today, the DA in the Western Cape would like to congratulate these young adults on their sterling results!

Despite their senior high school years being characterised by the Covid-19 pandemic, the provincial pass rate was increased to 81.4%. In addition to this, the Western Cape had the lowest dropout rate of 27.6% – in other words, more Grade 10s from 2020 wrote their exams last year than in any other province.

The Western Cape has also been home to the top overall candidate for the past six years, except for the 2020 academic year.

We know that the 49 102 candidates who passed their exams can now reap the rewards of many years of hard work. You now have a strong foundation in life and are empowered to achieve great things in the future.

To the Class of 2023, we wish you all the best with your academic year and look forward to you building on the successes of those before you. Good luck!
